Meet Nick
Simply put, I’m a guy who enjoys cooking really, really good food.
Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, I’ve been surrounded and shaped by so many different cultures, flavours and ways of eating. As many chefs have before me, I got my start as “sous chef” to my mom, aunt and grandmother in their kitchens, mixing, chopping, and mostly tasting the meals we prepared for our family.
When I got a lot older, and had bumped my head a little bit, I decided to turn my love for food into a career where I could share my passion for all things tasty, and the community around good food, with other people. When it comes to setting goals for myself, I turn into a “do it all or not at all” kind of person, so in my pursuit of being able to share my passion, I have made my way through some of South Africa’s best kitchens, been mentored by incredible chefs, and even made my way to the other end of the world to work amongst the ranks of chefs in multiple Michelin Star restaurants.
Nick’s Knife Bag is my way of sharing my journey with the world, and hopefully inspiring a few people along the way.
